The Sims 4 discriminates against characters with "homosexual" names

The developers of The Sims 4 have installed a filter, which makes it impossible to upload characters with names that indicate their homosexuality into the friv game's online gallery. This is reported by the Kotaku blog.

Blogger Anna Eichenauer from YouTube channel WhyStuffIsGreat and Yannick LeJac with Kotaku checked the filter with Gay Bob, Lesbian, Homosexual and Queer characters. Each time they could not be uploaded to the Gallery. At the same time, names like Straight Bob and Straight Bob successfully passed the filter.

Friv5Online Games Studio has acknowledged that The Sims 4 does weed out some words, including those related to gay sex. The company has promised to deal with this.

The Sims 4 was rated 18+ and flagged as Not Suitable for Children. The game was so appreciated according to the law "On the protection of children from information that is harmful to their health and development" - presumably, just because of the "propaganda" of homosexual relations. The previous installment in the series was rated 12+.

The Sims 4 is a life simulator from the American company Maxis. The game was released on PC on September 2, 2014 and scored an average score of 68.19% on the GameRankings aggregator. Previous installments and offshoots of The Sims have sold over 175 million copies. The Sims 4 debuted at # 1 on the UK sales chart.
